Dorsia Hotel & Restaurant

Again such hectic life with two small children and a wedding. Me and J are finally husband and wife.

As parents to two small children travelling is more tricky so at the moment we focus on short but high quality trips. Starting of with a one night trip to Gothenburg.

I’ve always wanted to try Dorsia Hotel, but it used to be rare that we would travel within Sweden, so this was the perfect opportunity since we also got to visit a friend at the hospital.

Our last time in Gothenburg (a month ago) didn’t start too well. We jumped in a Taxi from a well known brand just to make sure we wouldn’t be fool, but little did we know that Taxi drivers in Gothenburg are over all not that good. We asked to go to a main street and not thinking more about it and we ended up in Kungsbacka. One would assume that when you say a main street they would go to the closest city, or at least double check the destination with the passanger… but you all know what you say about assuming.

This time around we made sure we were going to Gothenburg. The hotel was located very well in the city center, but in a pedestrian street area which made it tricky for some cab drivers to find, but the one from the airport found it without trouble.

Just from the entrance you would know it is a cool hotel.

We were greeted by a receptionist which was very helpful and friendly. We arrive about two hours before check in, but luckily the room was already available for check in. The lobby area was really amazing. Inspired but french art deco and velvet draping everywhere.

What a room. Since I’ve been wanting to stay there for such a long time we spared to expenses and had booked a large exclusive room and it was worth every penny.

Dorsia room 409, large exclusive

The breakfast buffet was really good. Lots of choices and it was not crowded at all.

All in all this is a great hotel. Especially for a grown up get away since it is a child-free hotell where strollers aren’t even allowed. It is a controversial topic, but I like the concept, even though we have two kids of our own. However, we were disappointed that they only offered room service until 22:00 (10 PM), and that they did not offer any gym amneties. .

The location of the hotel is great. Directly in the city center with lots of good shopping and restaurants just outside the door.

Review Summary:

  • Rooms: 5/5

  • Service: 5/5

    • The staff was very attentive and friendly. Service was fast and good. The drinks was amazing and the breakfast staff really helpful.

  • Bed: 5/5

    • The bed was a huge king size carpe diem bed which was very comfortable.

  • Amenities: 2/5

    • We did not have time to check any amenities, but for a luxury hotel it lacked quite a few such as a gym, or SPA or room service after 10 PM (22:00).

  • Price: $$$$$

    • We stayed 1 nights mid week, which cost 7 200 SEK (611 € / 667$). We booked Large exclusive room, No. 409 (if you would want to request this particular room).

  • Stars: 5

  • Extra points for outstanding things: 2

    • Loved the decor and interior in this hotel. The drinks in the hotel bar was outstanding. Huge minus for not having 24-hour room service and no gym.

  • Tips and tricks: Must try the drinks in the bar. IMPORTANT is that this is a child free hotel and no strollers allowed.

Total 17/20 which means that this place is very much recommended.
